While the tempature doesn’t quite look like it yet, Summer is officially coming to end. For many of us, this Summer was filled with many memories and life changing stories. It may feel like a blur already but this summer included Elev8, Camp, General Assembly, PK Retreat, Camp meeting and of course NYC!

The biggest event of the summer was held in Tampa Bay, FL and over 10,000 gathered to make NYC 2023 one of the best ever. AZNYI had the larget district on the SW Field and 240 from our district traveled together for 9 glorious days of fun in the Florida Summer heat. We played together, sweated together, laughed together, prayed together, served together, worshiped together, but more importantly we united together to experience Jesus and be the Church he has called us to be.

Huge shoutout goes to Joni Dennis and Lori Ehle for doing a fantastic job coordinating this massive event. We are lucky to have such amazing leaders on our district and these 2 kept us fed, safe, organized, and put together an exciting trip that no one will forget. Lucikly we get a little break to rest as the next NYC will be held in Salt Lake City, UT in 2026.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Fall Fest is right around the corner and this is our annual event designed to gather together as a District and Celebrate the opportunity to play, pray, and have a lot of fun being with each other. It is a 2 day event beginning Friday night and ending on Saturday evening. This year, Haven Church will be hosting our event and Pastor Kyle Vick will be our speaker for the weekend. Cost is $20 for the event and also includes an event t-shirt.

Registration is simple, all we need is 1 leader from your group to sign everyone up using the link below. Then all you need to do is bring 1 check to pay for everyone. Check out the website for more details. See you there!

It’s been awhile since our Young Adults have gathered together so what better way to get back into the habit than by enjoying a good old fashion Friendsgiving. If you like food and fun, head on down to Tempe Nazarene and you wont be dissapointed. Groups will sign up to bring a dish to share and I promise that no one will go home hungry! Pastor Tony Brown will be hosting this event and more details will be coming shortly.

Our 2nd annual AZNYI Winter Retreat will be held over Presidents Day Weekend at Emmanual Pines Campground in Prescott, AZ. This is a great opportunity to bring your youth groups up to the cool country and hang out with the rest of the district. Cost will be $130 and will include meals, lodging, activities, and hoodie. Keep an eye on the website as more info and registration will be coming soon.

LEADER SPOTLIGHT

Please welcome Pastor Tony Brown recently appointed as the Young Adult Director for the Arizona District! Pastor Tony grew up on the Arizona District and has a heart for Young Adult ministry. He first felt the call to ministry in 2009 during Camp Meeting at Camp Pinerock. In 2010, he received his first local license followed by his first district license in 2012. Pastor Tony was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene in 2018.

During his time in ministry, he has served in youth, young adult, and adult ministries. Pastor Tony has spent the last seven years serving as the Young Adult/ Young Families Pastor at Tempe Nazarene. He desires to see Young Adults have a passionate and intimate relationship with Jesus.

Pastor Tony is married to Laura and they have four children: Nathan, Kaylin, Andrew, and Jenna. Fun fact, Tony and Laura are Junior High Sweethearts! He also earned his Doctorate in Business Administration - Leadership in August of 2023.

We are excited to have Pastor Tony in this new role and look forward to his leadership with our Young Adults.
