Pastoral
letter from the BGS regarding General Assembly 2009
Kansas City
Thursday, June
19, 2008
Greetings to
Nazarenes everywhere in the name of Jesus Christ! Less than
12 months from now the Church of the Nazarene will convene
the 27th General Assembly and Conventions at the Orange
County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, U.S.A.
Nazarenes will converge on Orlando from every region of the
world. We have congregations in over 151 world areas, and
our gathering in this manner is essential in order to engage
the world we serve with the mission we have accepted—“To
Make Christlike Disciples in the Nations.”
As your Board of General Superintendents, we wish to convey
several important items to every Nazarene. We believe the
priority of concerns must begin with our invocation of God's
blessing and presence upon the Assembly and Conventions.
Therefore, we call the church to prayer for these events. We
ask that each local church accept the challenge to begin
praying for God's blessing and presence upon this historic
meeting.
Pre-event planning has incorporated opportunities for
families who attend the
General Assembly and
Conventions
to experience both the blessing and significance of these
events as well as the destination attractions located in
Central Florida. Hotel accommodation costs are affordable.
The corporate experiences of global Nazarenes sharing
friendships, making acquaintances, and experiencing God will
never be forgotten. We urge you to mark the dates, June
23–July 3, 2009, and make your way to Orlando.
